Why Is American Cell Phone Companies So Famous?

Did you know that the American cell phone companies were stealing millions of cell phones off of unsuspecting consumers? Yes, and this is becoming a far too common occurrence. Did you also know that in the past three years; forty-five percent of all cellular devices have been infected with spyware? Not only did the carriers commit this act of theft on their customers, but the FBI and other authorities also did as well. Now you know why the carriers need to implement a kill switch technology.

The problem is that most of the American cell phone companies do not care. Why? Because all they want to do is make money. They are selling you the latest and greatest phones without ever thinking about protecting you. They are allowing all of their subscribers to download applications onto their mobile devices and track your usage, but they do not care if the software was originally purchased from a legitimate dealer.

The carriers sell millions of dollars of cell phones each and every year. Now you might think that this is a good thing, since Americans love to buy new items. However, it is the worst thing that could happen when it comes to the American cell phone industry. As more people are opting to buy their phones online, the competition will become even fiercer.

Now, imagine the situation if you are a loyal customer of AT&T, and then you decide to cancel your subscription. You would probably be bombarded by calls from their sales department telling you that you can no longer have the service. How would that make you feel? You deserve to get your money for the products that you have already paid for.

So how does the cell phone companies respond to these growing pains? The answer lies in schumer amendments. These amendments were introduced in the United States Federal Trade Commission by U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer (D-New York). This amendment was designed to prevent cell phone carriers from engaging in unfair or deceptive acts with consumers like when they sell “unlimited” plans without charging for minutes first.

How does this amendment work? Well, it allows phone companies to charge for minutes that consumers have used up but not yet used all the way. This way, the carriers can make some revenue, while still helping to protect the public from harmful phone practices. It also allows the carriers to engage in what is known as a kill switch technology, which is a fancy term for changing the way that the actual phones work.

A kill switch can sometimes let you use your cell phone without purchasing an additional sim card. It works in a simple manner. Instead of purchasing a separate mobile phone or contract with a service provider, you can use your existing phone to make calls to any land line number that accepts text messages. This allows you to use up to 3 gigs of data or talk time with an unlimited number of minutes.

What can the new FCC regulations mean for the American cell phone industry? In short, it means that your cell phone company is required to offer you a reasonable amount of talk time for unlimited numbers of minutes. If you are currently receiving these types of plans and are dissatisfied, you should contact the customer service number provided by your carrier and express your concerns. They will be more than happy to assist you in determining whether your current plan is fair and will work to ensure that you're getting the best value for your money.
